Roma Arte in Nuvola<\/strong> welcomed Portugal<\/strong> as the Guest Country<\/strong>, presenting a selection of works<\/strong> from the Portuguese State Contemporary Art Collection<\/strong>. The exhibition, organized by the Portuguese Ministry of Culture<\/strong> and the Embassy of Portugal in Rome<\/strong>, was curated by Sandra Vieira J\u00fcrgens<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Uma Volta ao Sol (A Trip Around the Sun)<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The exhibition Uma Volta ao Sol<\/strong> invited visitors to discover<\/strong> a selection of works by the new generation of Portuguese artists<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Through a diverse range of artists, styles, and mediums<\/strong>\u2014including painting and sculpture<\/strong>\u2014the exhibition explored various artistic practices, creative approaches, and conceptual reflections<\/strong>. A distinctive feature among the showcased artists was the use of irony<\/strong> in addressing their themes, along with a playful engagement with humor<\/strong> to highlight relationships between physical forms, ideas, and artistic expression<\/strong>. Their works emphasized both the literal and metaphorical<\/strong> aspects of images and narratives, inviting visitors to interpret them in multiple ways.<\/p>\n

Encouraging an interactive and playful experience with art<\/strong>, the exhibition featured pieces that engaged closely with life and society<\/strong>, often adopting a porous and flexible<\/strong> approach while maintaining a critical stance<\/strong> toward cultural and socio-political realities.<\/p>\n

The Portuguese State Contemporary Art Collection<\/strong> (CACE \u2013 Cole\u00e7\u00e3o de Arte Contempor\u00e2nea do Estado Portugu\u00eas<\/strong>) was established in 1976<\/strong> to create a representative collection of Portugal\u2019s visual arts<\/strong>. Today, it operates under the supervision of Museus e Monumentos de Portugal<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Recognizing the importance of maintaining and expanding the collection<\/strong>, the Portuguese Ministry of Culture<\/strong> recently resumed new acquisitions<\/strong>, which had been halted since 2000. The current acquisitions focus on young artists, an increased representation of women artists, and works that reflect the evolving landscape of contemporary artistic practices<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
